THE  D E S I G N  PROCESS

Penland Design specializes in visual communication through story telling; using problem-solving solutions with typography, space, image, and color to produce business identities, logos, branding, and advertising, products and services.

The Value of Penland Design is that I specialize in creating a brand from the ground up, quickly, clearly, and concise with amazing attention to detail. I am able to turn around a full Branding Identity within a weekends time because I have been doing this for the past 15 years, was educated at The Academy of Art University with my Masters in Design.

_BRAND QUESTIONNAIRE

After you’ve booked your project, I will send you the creative platform to fill out. This questionnaire gets to the heart of your brand, its style, preferences, and goals.  

_MOOD BOARD

The second step in the design process is to create a mood board. This is a collection of inspirational images that will serve as a starting point for your brand identity. 

_NAME

Before Logos can be worked on it is important to have a name, a tag-line, a mission-statement, a vision-statement, and the aspirational statement.

_LOGO

Once the mood is established I can move into the next phase, The Logo Sketches. This is usually every clients favorite part. You will receive a number of different logo designs to chose from, generally three. Since this is an expedited process THE WEEKEND BRAND there will be fewer renditions. They will be based off of the key words, the values, and goals you filled out in the creative platform. This will also include the “Kit-of-Parts” or branding elements; alternative logo or sub-mark, patterns, textures, illustrations, font selection, and style guide.

02_PHOTOGRAPHY

Created in house, this is a KEY component of your brand. How you are seen visually, colors, concepts, and design. This is done with professional lighting, and equipment + photography programs for digital editing.

03_COLLATERAL

_WEBSITE DESIGN

After the solid foundation of your brand is created, the next step is to get your business onto your website. The website will be created through the Square Space platform which allows for easy updates by you or me, after the design process is completed. We’ll add any blogs, appointments, or e-commerce, depending on your business needs. Cost for outside payment to Square Space Platform costs $216 a year for the basic package or $312 if you have commerces, and other options. Specialized Domain name is $20 for the year.

// Maximum two week turn around on each item, a minimum turn around would be 2 days. Photography can take up to two weeks depending on models, lighting, timing, how many images we need, and editing. Photography always takes longer than anything else because it usually involves real people, schedules and unpredictable weather.
